AN ISFAHAN RUG, the blackcurrant-red field with trees issuing palmettes and floral sprays around a cusped indigo medallion with scrolling and knotted arabesques terminating in palmettes, the light blue and indigo panelled spandrels with similar motifs, in an indigo border of interlaced arabesques and strapwork with animal terminals linked by rosettes between mole-grey floral meander and minor zigzag stripes, a short kilim strip at each end (very slight wear)
