The Royal Archives have kindly confirmed that H.R.H. The Prince of Wales's engagement diary for 4 January 1888 records 'Covert Shooting Wolferton Heath and Whinhill Wood (2030 Head)'; the diary further lists all the guests at dinner that evening, including the following:-
