THREE VERY LARGE INITIALS, 'D', 'I', 'C', on leaves from an ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPT CHOIR BOOK ON VELLUM

Leaves 485 x 345mm, initials (112x110, 125x72, 105x105mm), depicting green, blue and purple painted leaves on burnished gold ground, with brightly coloured floral extensions (one extension cropped at head). Text 6 lines in a gothic rotunda, with six lines of music in square notation on red 4-line staves. Text and music with calligraphic initials on verso. Two of the leaves are foliated xv and xxx.
The initials introduce the introits for mass the Sunday after Christmas 'Dum medium silenti'; the antiphon 'In illa die' and the responsory for the mass on Palm Sunday 'Circumdederunt me'. (3)
