(Map and text leaves slightly discoloured and browned.) Unbound as issued in it's original cloth-backed portfolio (worn). Second edition.

An interesting account of this early German expedition in Egypt and Abyssinia in 1862, first published in 1864. The work chronicles the expeditions' progress up and down the Nile to Luxor, and then down the Red Sea to Massawa in Abyssinia where the party treked inland to Mount Mensa and on to Keren. The plates include a number of hunting scenes. Kretschmer travelled as member of Duke Ernst's entourage.
