GAULD, George. An accurate Survey of the Coast of Florida, wherein is laid down the Reefs, Shoals, &c. on that dangerous Coast, in the Navigation from Jamaica, West Florida, and the River Missisippi. Kingston, Jamaica: Re-printed by Ann Woolhead, in Harbour-Street, 1779.
Small 8° (155 x 96mm). 16 pages. (Slightly soiled.) Stitched in contemporary, perhaps original grey paper wrappers.
The author served as a volunteer during the siege of Pensacola by the French and Spanish navy. The pamphlet was written in 1775, however Sabin 26763-4 records only two 4° publications with similar titles by him, issued in London by Faden in 1790 and 1796. Howes, U.S.iana, lists the same two late editions, ascribing them to Dr. John Lorimer. ESTC records only the same two editions.
NOT RECORDED IN ESTC. Ann Woolhead died in 1782; she was the widow of Thomas Woolhead, printer, d. 1778. Only one broadside printed by her is known, that is the announcement of a tobacco auction, now in the New York Public LIbrary.
