Engraved wall-map of Delftland comprising a hand-coloured general map heightened in gold, the uncoloured wall-map on 25 sheets, with title sections on two additional leaves, the title of the map embellished with the arms of Delftland, the borders to each side decorated with the arms of the members of the high Council, the lower margin engraved with scenes of the arts, sciences and pastoral life. (Margins slightly soiled or stained, 3 margins close shaved just touching engraved area.) Later morocco backed boards (worn).

The Kruikius brothers of Delft were both surveyors, Nicolas Samuelsz (1678-1754) being supervisor of sluices and dams. This fine and comprehensive survey of Delftland includes details of gardens, houses, strip farming, orchards, sluices and dams. Nicolas Kruikius was also the first surveyor to use contours on his map of the Merwede River, 1729.
