Atlas only (lacking 2 volumes of text), 2° (455 x 300mm). 50 (of 51) engraved plates, profiles and maps by Ivan and Konstantin Cheskii and others, most folding. (Lacks plate 48, small hole in plate 32, some slightly spotted and soiled). Bound with the 6 plates and maps from Sarychev's Voyage of Captain Billings through Chukhotsk, (St. Petersburg, 1811). Sarychev (1763-1811) undertook his voyages of discovery on the coasts of eastern Siberia, Okhotsk and Kamchatka and across the north Pacific to the Aleutian Islands and Alaska from 1785 to 1793 with Captain Billings. According to Lada-Mocarski 57 'this is one of the fundemental and very rare early books on the Aleutian Islands'.
