Details
Château Cheval-Blanc--Vintage 1947
Saint-Emilion, 1er grand cru classé (A). Château-bottled
Château capsule. Remains, virtually illegible, of badly damp-soiled label. New label supplied by the Château. Excellent level
This wine was shipped at the same time as the rest of the Schloss Ramholz wines which were sold at Christie's on 29th September. The label was too badly bin-soiled so, after discussing this with Baron von Kühlmann and the Château proprietors it was decided that the imperiale would be offered for sale when the new label had been received and affixed. Baron von Kühlmann informs us that the imperiale came from the cellar of a distinguished family in Belguim and that when received, several years ago, the label was in good order, the vintage being clearly visible. The deterioration of the label was entirely due to the damp conditions, in the cellar described in detail in our 29th September catalogue
1 imperiale per lot
