Mewar, circa 1700 - 1725
gouache heightened with gold on paper, depicting a ruler seated in his chamber holding a document, rewarding musicians, receiving a coutier, seated with two further courtiers and leaving the palace dressed in gold armour, lines of black devengari on a yellow panel above, red and yellow borders with black rules, mounted -- 24.2 x 21 cm. (small areas of flaking and rubbing, generally good condition).

In earlier publications the set was misnamed Shiva Sagati before four of the paintings were corrected and catalogued by J. Bautze, Lotosmund und Louenritt, Stuttgart, 1991, No. 84 p. 197, ff.
