The sterling silver and celluloid body decorated with moon crater landscape detail, enhanced by applied Apollo XI pod set with Kapton alloy heat-resistant irridescent yellow foil from the original NASA Apollo XI spacecraft, 18K two-colour gold nib, the sterling silver clip with leaf motif, piston filling system, together with Krone original fitted leather presentation box, booklet, signed letter from astronaut Buzz Aldrin in leather portfolio, replica of commemorative plaque left by astronauts on the moon and outer packaging, signed and numbered

Lot Essay

Krone created this limited edition pen to commemorate the achievements of the Apollo XI astronauts in successfully landing on the Moon in July of 1969. The outside of the pen contains a small chip of irridescent yellow Kapton foil, the protective metal layer that encased the pod to deflect the intense rays of the sun and protect the astronauts inside. Apollo XI pilot Buzz Aldrin signed a letter that accompanies the box.
