Lot Essay

cf. Dr. Ernst Ploil, Lotz at the World Exhibition Paris 1900, 1993, pp.78-79, for an illustration of this form, which was listed by the firm as #434. Ploil attributes its design to Franz Hofstätter, who helped liberate the glasshouse from its production of "In Genre Tiffany" forms, pieces that were obvious imitations of the Favrile glass of Louis Comfort Tiffany.
