Further details
The 'eye' motif represents the warding off of the evil eye. For a similar example see North African Textiles, Christopher Spring and Julie Hudson, British Museum Press, 1995, p90. Another akhnif of similar design from the Musée des Arts d'Afrique, Paris was included in the exhibition Maroc, Les Tresors du Royaume, Petit Palais, Paris, 1999 and is illustrated on p197 of the exhibition catalogue.
