A SILVER MOUNTED SADDLE

This "San Fernando" model classic black parade saddle is fully floral carved in a style with a high cantle indicative of the early 1930s, heavy sterling silver fully engraved floral motif adorns the swells, the front of the fork, as well as the horn cap. The silver on the horn and the front of the gullet are trimmed with Bohlin's celebrated rope roll. The back of the cantle is fully bound in sterling silver and has a matching rope roll motif. The full square skirts are embellished with Bohlin's highly renowned conchas in both round and diamond shapes. The corner conchas are fully engraved, contain a raised flower design in reposse, and are trimmed with a rolled rope design. The full tapaderos are adorned with numerous Bohlin conchas, both round and diamond, some with flowers in reposse and trimmed with rolled rope edges. The heavily adorned matching breastcollar has graduated Bohlin conchas ranging from 3" to 5", the larger conchas trimmed with rolled rope edges, mixed with diamond shaped conchas in a pattern matching the saddle. The exquisite headstall is fully embellished with Bohlin's finest silver, and includes a Visalia bit. Featured in between the reins and the romal is a rare rectangle slider made of sterling silver with a unique Native American head in reposse. This trademark is indicative of work that that only appears in pieces earmarked for Bohlin's personal use--seat: 15 in., cantle: 5 in., tapaderos: 24 in.
