Maker's mark of Joseph-Etienne Blerzy, Paris, 1783/1789
Rectangular, enamelled in translucent blue on a wavy engine-turned gold ground within borders embellished with trailing foliage, berries and ovolos painted in translucent green and opaque white enamel, both sides set with oval enamel plaques painted with the altar of Love and Fame, both sides of the lid with diamond-set inscriptions L'amitié and vous l'offre, the inside with ivory tablets and pencil, marked on bezel, with charge and discharge mark of Henri Clavel
