Circa 1832-1838 with additions circa 1845, various printed and incised marks, gilder's M probably for Jean Moyez to most pieces, stencilled iron-red seals for the Château of St. Cloud and Compiegne
Gilt with an anthemion rosette, the agate blue border in pattern 'no. 30', with anthemion scrolls, within laurel and dot-dash bands, with gilt dentil well and gilt line edge, comprising:
Two two-handled ice-pails (seaux à bouitelle forme 'Étrusque'), 6¾in. (17.2cm.) high
Two large footed bowls (compotiers ovales unis), 10½in. (27cm.) diam.
Four navette-shaped dishes (bateaux forme navette), 10¾in. (27.3cm.) long
Four footed shallow bowls (compotiers à bourrelet 2e grandeur), 8 3/8in. (21.3cm.) diam.
Twenty-five soup plates (assiettes à potage), 9 3/8in. (24.2cm.)
Sixty-one plates (assiettes unis), 9½in. (24.2cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

The museum at the Chateau de Compiègne retains 117 pieces from this service, similarly marked to the present examples of all the shapes presently included as well as other serving pieces, tea and coffee wares.
