Lot Essay

Early in his career Faldi practiced history painting, which he exhibited in Milan, his native Florence, and in Paris at the Salon of 1881. Subsequently, however, he concentrated almost exclusively on genre scenes and landscape, particularly of Italy, which show the influence of the Macchiaioli. Faldi was awarded Bronze Medals at the Expositions Universelles of 1889 and 1900.
