AN INCISED CELADON EWER WITH COVER
koryo dynasty (12th century)
With upright, slightly everted walls rising from a flat base to a slanted shoulder and upright, cylindrical neck, also moulded with a curved spout and loop handle, incised on the shoulder with a band of foliate scroll and two sprays of lotus, one opposite the spout and one to the left of the handle, covered overall by a bright green celadon glaze with random large crackle, the base unglazed; fitted with a circular cover with recessed well centering a bud-form knop, incised around the knop with a floral whorl and along the edge with scrolling foliage, glazed overall with a kingfisher-blue celadon glaze, three spur marks on the rounded underside
