Yvette Guilbert commissioned this plaque from Toulouse-Lautrec as the top for a small tea table. Lautrec sent the design to the potter Emile Muller in Ivry for him to produce a ceramic tile. The artist hand-colored each plaque himself before it was fired and no two examples are identical. When Toulouse-Lautrec submitted the design to Yvette Guilbert, she added the humorous inscription which appears in the lower left corner. Approximately ten examples were made.
