Originally conceived in 1961, this work was commissioned by the Friends of Modern Art of the Detroit Institute of Arts in 1970. This work is number forty-seven from an edition of fifty with one proto-type and three artist's proofs, each signed and numbered by the artist. The edition was produced at Montecatini-Edison in Viareggio, Italy.
