Lot Essay

The mica-printed designs, type-setting, quality of impression and binding are particularly fine and suggest that the work was supervised by Hon'ami Koetsu (1558-1637), artist and the master of the Saga press. It is believed that the printed text and title slip are based on Koetsu's own calligraphy.
