Lot Essay

Torso is an earlier version of Gerzsó's monumental La Mujer de la Jungla, 1977, which depicts lunar deity Coyolxauhqui, sister of Aztec God Huizilopochtli. He slayed and dismembered her on the hill of Coatepec in revenge for conspiring against him before he was born.
