Syria, Seleucid Empire, collection of 25 Silver Tetradrachms, including 10 Tetradrachms of Antiochos II (261-246 BC), Antiochos Hierax (246-227 BC), Antiochos III (223-187 BC), diademed head of king right, rev., Apollo seated on omphalos (including Houghton 37, 72, 652var., same obverse die, 654var.) and similar Tetradrachm of Seleukos I and Demetrios II, a Tetradrachm of Alexander II (128-123 BC), diademed head of Alexander II right, rev. Zeus enthroned left (Houghton 298), along with Tetradrachms of other kings with similar reverses, a Tetradrachm of Alexander I (150-145 BC) from the mint of Tyre (Houghton 749var.), and a scarce Tetradrachm of Cleopatra Thea and Antiochos VIII (125-121 BC) (probably the mint of Sidon, cf. Houghton 721), together with 4 Silver Drachms, and 5 other Silver Fractions issued by a variety of kings, average very fine, one extremely fine, few with corosion or horn silver, one with flan crack (34) (lot)
