GENERAL HARRISON ON THE FRONTIER. Instructions regarding payment, dated the same month Harrison--the victor in the Battle of the Thames the previous October--resigned from the Army due to differences with the Secretary of War, John Armstrong: "Be pleased to advance to Lieut. Col. R.C. Nicholas the sum of two Hundred seventy two Dollars & 32 cents for the contingences of his Regt. in ascending the River to this place & either settle His account by taking up the vouchers or take his duplicate Receipts for the amount transmitting one of them to the accountant of the War Department."
