[MILNE, A. A.] SHEPARD, ERNEST H., illustrator. Original pen and ink drawing for "The Little Black Hen," showing Christopher Robin seated on the ground beside the Little Black Hen. Circa 1927. 104 x 132 mm. (4 1/8 x 5¼ in.), board size, 82 x 99 mm. (3¼ x 3 7/8 in.), sight size; matted. The drawing was used to illustrate the poem from Now We Are Six (1927), where it appears on p. 62 below the stanza which reads: "'I'm not a King And I haven't a crown; I climb up trees, And I tumble down. I can shut one eye, I can count to ten, So lay me an egg, please, Little Black Hen.'"
