A similar Kurdish carpet was sold at Nagel, Stuttgart, November 15, 1996, lot 88 (See Hali 91, p.150) and has a comparable border with running dog guard borders. Another "proto-Kurdish" rug illustrated in Hali 70, p. 85, displays the same vivid coloration and an analogous treatment and interpretation of a classical design, in our case the herati motif.
