AN URARTIAN BRONZE BELT
circa 8th-7th century b.c.
The long rectangular sheet perforated along the upper and lower edges for attachment, the right third with a single register ornamented with a standing archer and two warriors in a chariot confronting a rearing lion, the left two thirds with two registers, both with a hunter with bow and spear facing the back of a lion which is confronting a bull, an archer behind the bull facing away, a running animal to the left, the registers divided by punched bands of large and small dots, with decorative bands framing the scenes above, below, and at each end
