AN APULIAN RED-FIGURE VOLUTE-KRATER
attributed to the painter of berlin f 3383

The A-Side with a draped female figure seated within an ionic naiskos, holding an open box before her and a dove by the wings in her right hand, a male and female offering bearer on either side of the naiskos, the neck with a female head in three-quarter view amidst florals, with a band of swastika-meander, a thin band of bead-and-reel, and a band of laurel above; the B-Side with two standing draped figures, a palmette complex on the neck, with a band of laurel, a thin band of stripes, and a band of wave above, a band of incised and painted ovolo on the rim, masks on the volutes, one of the four swan heads remaining on the shoulder, with a band of tongues in between, palmette complexes below the handles, a band of wave below the scenes, details in added white and yellow
