A BYZANTINE BRONZE RELIQUARY CROSS
circa 10th-11th century a.d.
Made from two halves, hinged at the bottom and pinned to the now-missing suspension loop above by three loops, both sides cast with scenes in relief, one side depicting the Crucifixion, the sun and moon above, with Christ flanked by diminutive figures of the Virgin and Saint John the Theologian, the other side with the Virgin Orans surrounded by four medallions containing busts of saints, probably the Four Evangelists
