A LARGE SILVER PITCHER, maker's mark of Gorham, circa 1860, no. 270, also stamped S. WILMOT and COIN, vase form, on short spreading circular pedestal base, the base and sides with broad engine turned frieze, the body center with pointed oval cartouche engraved with initial L 1880, within foliate capped volute scroll strap and ivy surround, the shoulder twice with engraved frond centered shell, above applied with band of alternate plain and patare filled ovals, with broad shaped spout applied with guilloche die rolled rim, with ram's mask headed scroll handle issuing graduated lozenges, terminating in foliage and bifurcated multi tendril join, with applied beaded moldings to base and shoulder, engraved under base MLG 1887--14¼in. (36.1cm.) high, 50oz.
