A SILVER PITCHER, maker's mark of Gorham, circa 1860, no. 450,
rounded shouldered spreading cylindrical, on rim foot, the lower body
engraved with stylized varied anthemion band, the sides four times with oval pendant cartouche within foliate scroll and trailing floral surround, three engraved with various flowers, the front vacant, divided by trailing flowers and strapwork, the shoulder engraved with paterae filled alternate diamond or roundell, with broad shaped spout, the part indented loop handle applied with graduated beading, terminating in openwork anthemion flanked by bifurcated scroll join, the top applied with acanthus and flanked by bifurcated multi tendril join--11½in. (29.2cm.) high, 39.5oz.
