MAKER'S MARK OF ELEDER-HICKOCK CO., NEWARK, CIRCA 1925; SIGNED BY KLAUS BRASSLER
In the Renaissance style, shaped rectangular base with canted corners, on four scroll and lion's mask feet with acanthus joins, the sides with panels of Florentine scrolls and caryatids and applied with four foliate scroll cartouches with the monogram F, with removable grill, liner and cover all pierced for holding flowers, with foliate scrolls, flowerheads and floral bouquets, the central standard on conforming base with band of ovolo and foliate swags, surmounting two winged nymphs with bouquets, the stem with conforming swags and with acanthus, supporting a shaped circular dish with a rim chased with panels of Florentine scrolls and cartouches with the monogram F and with floral bouquets and caryatids, the removable domed cover pierced for holding flowers with foliate scrolls surmounting a classical figure with flowing drapery and holding flowers, marked under base and with signature of K. William Andrew Fisher (1886-1969) an his wife, Lura Titus Fisher (1884-1979) of Palmer Wood, Detroit.
William A. Fisher, with his seven brothers, transformed the family carriage-building shop into the largest automobile body supplier in the world, the Fisher Body Corporation. He was second vice president of Fisher Body Corp. from 1923-1934, and a vice president and director of General Motors Corporation which acquired Fisher Body Corp. in 1926.
