The rectangular purse flame stitched in various colors with scalloped flap, the edges bound in green wool, opening to a three fold pocket lined with magenta silk, inscribed under flap JOHN GOLDEN--4 3/8 x 7 1/8in.

John Golden, born September 1735 outside Cantwell's Bridge, Odessa, Delaware, was the son of Abraham and Johanna Golden, and the husband of Sarah Janvier. Sarah Janvier, born October 1740, was the sister of Odessa cabinetmaker John Janvier, Sr.
