A CLASSICAL CARVED MAHOGANY DESK-AND-BOOKCASE
ATTRIBUTED TOJOHN MEADS AND WILLIAM ALVORD (WORKING TOGETHER, CIRCA 1824-1835), ALBANY, NEW YORK, 1825-1835

In two parts: the upper section with the projecting molded cornice above a conforming case fitted with a beaded edge frieze over two glazed cupboard doors with acanthus-carved mullions above a frieze fitted with two short drawers over mid-molding; the lower section with slant-lid opening to a fitted baized-lined surface fitted with two graduated long drawers over acanthus-carved supports joined by a shaped medial shelf, on short acanthus-carved legs and bun feet--83 ¼in. high, 51in. wide, 25 ½in. deep
