Lot Essay

Although the painting reminds one immediately of the famous Green Tara example, now in the Cleveland Museum, with its similar pavilion structure, the elegant seated Tara, it is clear that the present one is excuted later. It is therefore proposed to place this thang.ka at the end of the fourteenth or early fifteenth century. The aureols around the surrounding figures seem to confirm this presumption.
