The high pontiff is seated in vajrasana on a black lacquered wood chair, a stool in front, both hands in dhyanamudra resting on his lap and supporting a ball-shaped object, wearing various garments partly decorated in gilt raised gesso, his elderly face with serene expression, wrinkled forehead, smiling lips, painted facial details, black coloured hairdress underneath his specific hat which is carved with the tathagata Amitabha flanked by a pair of dragons
