Maclauchlan Milne was born and studied in Edinburgh. Between the wars he painted in Paris and the south of France with his French wife at Lavardin. A stipend from Keillers, the Dundee marmalade manufacturers, allowed the artist to continue painting in France and he was often at Cassis at the same time as Cadell and Peploe, his light, broad style reflecting the influence of the Colourists.
