The Dr Georges Mugneret holdings in Clos Vougeot are exclusively in the top section of the Clos, the vines running up to the courtyard in front of the château. Their wine is consistently one of the most beautiful and harmonious of the appellation. The 1997 is mid-deep purple-red, with elegant, earthy and ripe Pinot Noir aromas. Concentrated, rich fruitiness coats the mouth beguilingly, with agreeable tannins and lovely length. AH
