JOHN HUSTON
An original agreement, dated December 20, 1956 between John Huston and The Selznick Company. Mr. Huston agrees to render his services as director of the film A Farewell To Arms. It is interesting to note that King Vidor, not John Huston is recognized as the film's director. It's commercial failure allegedly is the reason that David O. Selznick decided not to produce any more films. Signed in blue ink in two places John Huston. Together with a series of mimeographed telegrams and a letter between Mr. Selznick and Mr. Huston, first expressing delight at working on the film together, then documenting their battles and differences.
