A LACQUER FUBAKO, EDO PERIOD (19TH CENTURY), the rectangular box with rounded corners decorated in two-colored gold takamaki-e with a crane flying above gnarled pine and bamboo branches against a ground of dense nashiji, the sides matching and the interior roiro-nuri randomly sprinkled with nashiji, silver ring fittings (corner chip, some surface and edge nicks, fade line on sides)--5 x 3 x 3½ in.
