Harvey Allen Moyer was a wagon manufacturer from Cicero, New York, and was known to be a fine craftsman and a perfectionist. In 1908 Moyer built his first experimental automobile and by 1911 his factory in Syracuse, New York, was producing his high-quality, powerful cars.
Moyer was definitely interested in quality not quantity and the $3,000 price tag reflected this. Like so many other manufacturers of fine automobiles, Harvey Moyer recognized that in order to stay competitive he needed to introduce a higher production, less expensive model range; unfortunately, he lacked the capital to do so and production ceased in 1915. It is believed that only 400 Moyer cars were built in the period between 1911 and 1915.
The company slogan was "All Roads Are Level to a Moyer" indicating the smooth power of their massive six cylinder cars. This wonderfully preserved example is the 38th Moyer produced with the 525 cubic inch, six cylinder, T-head engine. The build quality and high standards of finish are evident when one examines the Moyer. Every moving part of the engine was carefully balanced to improve reliability, increase power and reduce vibration. A most advanced feature of the car is the full pressure lubrication system.
This Moyer was originally owned by a garage mechanic who obviously took great pride in his car as it is so well preserved. The original upholstery is still intact and in very good condition and the car even comes with its original instructions for use still under the front seat. It has been used on several Glidden Tours and is eligible for most brass era type events. The Moyer was featured on the cover of Volume 36, No.2 issue of "The Antique Automobile". It is a high-quality, large horsepower touring car.
