Modelled in the figure of a man walking under a large rain hat on tall rain geta and holding a lantern, the face rendered in an amused expression and the head turned back as if to look at something behind, robes carved in gentle curves to indicate the movement of the figure, details of the straw rain hat carved and etched in a radiating 'snail shell' spiral, himotoshi on either side of the back sash, unsigned--2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) high
