20TH CENTURY, SIGNED MASATOSHI (b. 1915)

Carved as a bakemono of horse form balanced on the two rear hooves and long, slender legs, the foreshortened front legs under the large head on either side of the distended belly, the long mane ending in three decorative coils joined to the flowing tail which wraps around the hind legs, himotoshi formed by the spaces between the hind legs, signed on the right hindquarter--3 1/8 in. (7.7 cm.) high
