A THREE CASE LACQUER INRO
EDO PERIOD (19TH CENTURY), SIGNED JOKASAI
Decorated on one side in sumi-e togidashi on a fundame ground with the figure of Toba riding his brown mule and on the other side in red hiramaki-e and aogai on a roiro-nuri ground with four rows of repeated longevity characters in varying scripts, the interior cases also roiro-nuri decorated in gold hiramaki-e with further rows of characters; fitted with a coral bead ojime and a lacquer netsuke in the form of a lidded, oval box and cover decorated with an oxherd and black ox before a backdrop of Mt. Fuji on a nashiji and roiro-nuri ground--3 in. (7.7 cm.) high
