Provenance:
This necklace was originally a 19th century anklet from the princely state of Bhopal and was worn by Bari Begum, eldest daughter of the last Nawab of Bhopal. The work is finely detailed Kundan, a type of firing process in which the metal is subjected to intense heat to set the stones. Of the original twin pair of anklets, this is the only surviving one and was converted into a necklace in 1950
