Please note that we are grateful to Andrea de Marchi who attributes this painting to Raffaello Botticini. The Giovanni di Pietro to whom the picture was formerly attributed, better known as lo Spagna, died in 1528. The dates in the catalogue refer to an earlier artist of the name.
