A RARE NEPHRITE AND SILVER-MOUNTED PRESENTATION BOWL
marked Fabergé and with the workmaster's mark of Julius Rappoport, St. Petersburg, circa 1890
On three cast and chased silver paw feet, the circular body mounted with a silver laurel and oak leaf wreath enclosing the inlaid silver interlaced Cyrillic intials PTB and the inscription "XXV" and the date "XVII au[gust] MDCCCXC y[ear]", fully marked
9¼in. (23.5cm.) wide and 7in. (18cm.) high

Lot Essay

This technique of having gold or silver inlaid on nephrite is extremely rare amongst items produced by the Fabergé firm due to the fragility of the stone.
