The domed tri-form base chased with rocks, foliage and waterfalls supporting three fully-modelled putto frolicking beneath a massive twisting oak tree with leaves and acorns, surmounted by three similar bifurcated branches with six sockets (with one glass dish), the similar central standard and socket with removable openwork basket, the base engraved on one side with a script monogram WN, one another with two crests, and the third applied with a plaque with presentation inscription, marked on base, each putto, each branch, central standard, and basket, the applied plaque with mark of Stephen Smith, London, 1865, together with a circular silver-plated mirror plateau on three glass feet, the sides formed of rocaille, scrolls and flowers, mark of Thomas Bradbury & Sons
The candelabrum 30½in. (77.5cm.) high, the mirror plateau 17in. (43.2cm.) diameter; 208oz. (6475gr.) weighable silver

The presentation inscription reads: "PRESENTED TO The Honourable William Napier OF BROADMEADOWS AT A PUBLIC DINNER GIVEN TO HIM BY THE LIBERAL ELECTORS OF THE COUNTY OF SELKIRK AND OTHER FRIENDS, IN RECOGNITION OF HIS GREAT EFFORTS IN FORWARDING THE LIBERAL CAUSE IN THE COUNTY SELKIRK."
