AN ANTIQUE DIAMOND FLOWER BROOCH
Designed as a spray of flowers, leaves and buds pavé-set with old-cut diamonds to the rose-cut diamond pistils and stem, circa 1830, 11.5 cm. high, in fitted case
This diamond brooch is an excellent example of early nineteenth century naturalism. The flowerhead, buds and leaves are realistically modelled containing bright old-cut stones from Brazil or India that are closely set for extra effect. The central flowerhead is set en tremblant so as to give a shimmering effect that was particularly popular during this period. It is rare to find an eminently wearable piece of antique jewellery in such good condition.
