A FINELY CARVED SMALL BAMBOO BRUSHPOT
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The cylindrical brushpot is well carved from a segment of bamboo with the traditional subject of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove, as well as with groups of scholars practising calligraphy in a pavilion and strolling among bamboo, pine and willow trees beside a stream, attended by several boy servants, the wood of reddish-brown patina, age cracks
