A CANTON ENAMEL 'EUROPEAN-SUBJECT' HAND MIRROR AND AN OVAL BELT-BUCKLE
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

The glass mirror is mounted within a floral-shaped frame decorated with a continuous floral scroll against a yellow-ground, the back fitted with a separate panel enamelled with two Grecian-style ladies, the standing lady holding a tray supporting a ewer looking at her kneeling companion resting on one leg a tray with three ewers, set in an architectural landscape scene, the panel secured by four evenly spaced gilt-metal florets, with further two florets on the top of the spinach jade handle; and a small oval belt-hook inset with a plaque enamelled with three figures beside an ornamental fountain, encircled by a gilt-bronze frame cast with swirling clouds, backed by two raised brackets for attachement (enamels retouched)
